Ronald McDonald House Charities is an independent charity that provides free ‘home away from home’ accommodation and support for families with children at specialist children’s hospitals across the UK, enabling families to stay close to their child and maintain a degree of normal life.
The event I was asked to attend and photograph, was an open day, put on for families to spend time away from the hospital wards and to spread the word about the charity and demonstrate how the house works and the positive impact it has on the families who stay there.
During the afternoon, I was free to capture natural shots as the children played with the toys in the communal area of the house, crafted with the adults and had their face painted. We also had some fun with the pop-up banner, which the charity will use for social media. The charity will pass some of the photos on to the families as well as use them in their general marketing activity.
